Valentines Day gifts

The National Retail Federation  reported that Americans spent $15.7 billion dollars on Valentines Day gifts in 2010. Since Jewelry is one of the most popular gifts for sweethearts, now is the perfect time to verify protection for valuables both new and existing. One of my clients recently visited Spain and returned with several unique paintings with a combined value of several thousand dollars. She wisely informed me of her purchase and we added the items to her policy for the appropriate value. We also stored copies of her appraisals confirming the value of each painting. Now if a claim occurs, there will be no problem because everything is accounted for and verified.

It is very important to keep all your valuables secure and let your professional agent know when you make purchases so the records can be up to date when a loss occurs. This not only helps your sense of security but makes claims payments much faster and easier when the unexpected happens.

When you need an independent professional agent who pays attention to the details, contact me. I enjoy meeting new clients everyday and working to help protect all the valuables in your life.

Santa is coming to town

Santa is Coming to Town!

Will you be able to see Him? Probably not and here is why.
By the time you hear his sleigh and reindeer, he will be long gone because speed is critical! This chart will give you perspective on just how quick he is and help explain to the "little ones" why he can be so hard to see when he visits.

SPEEDING SANTA!

When you have "recovered" from his visit, contact me and go over your list is new; jewelry, art, and other valuables. No, I am not just "nosey", they may need to be listed on your homeowners policy to establish coverage for high value items. Anyway a review is always in order and that's a good way to start the "New Year"!

Merry Christmas

Halloween Safe-Driving Tips

 Wednesday, October 26, 2011

The GreeneAgent says:

The first of our "Holiday Rush" events will come on Monday this year. Kids on the street at dusk can be dangerous so take a little extra time an pre-caution to be safe and keep them safe. Just a few simple tips can pay big dividends for everyne . So have a great time on this holiday but stay safe!

Halloween Safe-Driving Tips

According to Safe Kids USA, children are twice as likely to be killed by a vehicle on Halloween compared to other days of the year. Take extra caution behind the wheel on Halloween and use the following driving tips to keep trick-or-treaters safe.

  1. Yield to Trick-or-Treaters: Be prepared for children to run into the street at anytime.
  2. Refrain From Passing Idle Vehicles: You never know when the driver in front of you has stopped to drop children off. Be patient and take extra caution when traveling near other vehicles.
  3. Park Your Mobile Phone: With children crowding the dark roads, it is especially important to avoid any distractions while behind the wheel.
  4. Communicate With Other Drivers: Use hazard lights when picking-up or dropping-off trick-or-treaters. And, always use turn signals.
  5. Consider Alternate Routes: Avoid driving near trick-or-treaters by taking routes that go around busy neighborhoods, not through them.

Fact of Life

                                                                                                                                                                 Friday, September 23, 2011

The GreeneAgent says:

Fact #1
You know how they say there are only two guarantees in life, and taxes is one of them? Well, this about the other one. To be clear....death. It's perfectly okay that looking at this subject might make you uneasy. But planning for the end does not make it come sooner, in fact it might even have the opposite effect---one less thing to worry about.  Being able to decide right now how you want your family to live, and how you want to be remembered, might be challenging, probably will require some time and maybe even professional advice, but it's also empowering even liberating.

The Good News? There doesn't have to be any bad news.

When you start talking about life and what comes after you're gone, stay positive and upbeat. After all, it's not your imminent demise you're talking about. You're simply taking advantage of this moment and this opportunity to help secure your family's future and a particular way of being remembered. If your're having the conversation with a spouse, you might learn things about each other that surprise and delight you. Maybe the idea of someday "downsizing" your home and lifestyle would be desirable. Perhaps this is your opportunity to leave money to causes that have always been dear to your heart but that you weren't able to give a big enough place in your budget. Just as with planning for retirement, planning how your family will carry on and how you'll be remembered is up to you.

You can put your money where your heart is!

Too often when we think about finances--wheter short or long term-- we jump straight into the nuts and bolts insteado thinking about what kind of opportunity we really have. If family is the most important thing in your life, isn't this an opportunity to show it? Certainly you do your best to provide for their current needs, but this is your chance to be proactive about their future. Do you have a savings account or college fund? Do your "most important things" occupy an equally important place in your budget? Have you made sure that your're not leaving your family in debt or struggling? These are questions workth thinking about and - if you haven't already--doing something about.

If you need to have these conversations with someone who understands and can help you with planning call me for an appointment. Sometimes these important conversations are more comfortable at home so the GreeneAgent makes "house calls".
You will sleep better when you get this taken care!

Off To College: Driving Safety Tips

It's time to go back to college! Share these valuable driving safety tips with your college students as they load up their cars and head back to college.

  1. Avoid Cramming, Pack Right. Even though your son or daughter will try to fit every last piece of dorm room equipment into the car, make sure whoever is driving is able to see out of the rearview mirror despite a fully packed car. Nothing should be packed above seat level in order to avoid projectile movement of objects if the need to stop short arises. Pack right by making two trips or shipping what will not fit safely in the car.
  2. Take a Break. Whether you or child is driving, make sure to plan to take stops and break up your drive if it is a long one.
  3. Conduct a Car Check. Check headlights, oil, turn signals, and tires before letting your son or daughter embark on their journey to college. You never know when these vehicle essentials may break down!
  4. Keep Your Eyes Peeled For Pedestrians. All college campuses experience an increase in the number of pedestrians walking around. Remind your son or daughter to yield to pedestrians and to never pass a car that is stopped at a cross walk.
  5. Always Lock up! College students often forget that urban areas of college campuses are not as safe as their parents' driveway. Remind your son or daughter to never leave valuables in the car and always lock the car.

Practice Safe Driving, Take the Test!
Raise awareness about safe driving and let your policyholders test their driving knowledge by reminding them to take the test! Your customers will be able to share and compare their scores with family and friends, and see just how their distracted driving habits measure up. Whether it's on your Facebook page, blog, Twitter account, or company website, the National Drivers Test initiates great conversation and will grow your business within your community.

Visit www.gmacinsurance.com and click on the National Drivers Test button. If you're on Facebook, checkout the National Drivers Test Facebook App where you can "challenge a friend" to take the test!
